Family Theatre in Hampshire Autumn 2016
Nearing the end of the first week back at school, and already we’re counting down the weeks to half term.. But the fun doesn’t have to stop just because it’s back to school! Planning some fun family activities over the term makes the term go quicker, and keeps everyone in high spirits! Anvil Arts, Basingstoke has a great schedule of family friendly productions on for Autumn, and after a quick look at the brochure, these are our top picks!
The Rattler
While you might not instantly think of taking children to see an Opera, some Opera is actually great fun and well-loved by children – I’m thinking about some Mozart operas which are very amusing. The Rattler, is a children’s opera aimed at age 7+, and the story is based on the Rumplestiltskin fairy tale. The performance is on 24th September, and runs for 50 minutes, with no interval. Tickets cost £10.
The Stickman
Julia Donaldson’s wonderful story of The Stickman will be brought to life on the 7th and 8th of October by Scamp Theatre. The performance is aimed at children Aged 3+. We’ve been to a few children’s performances at the Haymarket, and they’re always wonderful fun and very family friendly. The performance is 55 minutes, with no interval and tickets for this cost £15 each, I would suggest booking early as I know that tickets for these productions do sell quickly!
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
This one seems great fun for a good variety of ages, C. S. Lewis’ story has captured the imaginations of so many both in the book, film and on the stage! Nothing beats a live production though, and I am excited to know how they will bring Aslan alive on the stage! This is on just in time for Half – Term, and I think it’ll be a great way to start the school break! It’s only on for one day Thursday 27th October, and tickets cost £14!
