Warner Brothers Winter Offerings!

Warner Brothers sent us a lovely parcel pre-Christmas, a stocking filled with three fabulous DVD’s and some divine Lindt chocolate (but that didn’t stick around very long!)

The Polar Express is a wonderful children’s film, and we have watched it daily since it arrived! The combination of a train on a journey to Father Christmas and all the adventure in between filled Boo (aged 4 1/2) with tremendous excitement and he sat silently throughout the film on numerous occasions! For me the voice of Tom Hanks really works well as the slightly grumpy train conductor!

New Years Eve is the ideal film if you like me will be enjoying the festivities of welcoming in a New Year at home! Starring such fabulous actors as De Niro and Kutcher I couldn’t wait to watch it! It is a feel good film, funny, sentimental and full of things which make you think about life differently. I have to confess, I did find the film a little long, but I also enjoyed it very much and even shed a tear or two. It comes with a UV copy, so can (and will!) be watched again while you’re out and about on a mobile device.

The Dark Knight Rises, Mr G was delighted to receive this as he loves Batman films, and as this is the last in the Nolan trilogy he was excited to see what would happen! Batman is now a fugitive, and the film is packed full of action which made the film – although over 2 1/2 hours long – fly by! The UV copy has proved popular and Mr G has already watched it on his phone while recovering from a nasty cold, while I watched films with the children instead.

Huge Thank You to Warner Brothers for sending us such a wonderful selection of Winter entertainment!

My Highs and Lows of 2012..

Thanks to Kate for tagging me in this one, I’m certainly hoping 2013 will get my groove back!

My Button

1. What was your happiest event?

I think our family holiday was my happiest event, just all 4 of us together without having to worry about the ‘real’ world!

2. What was the saddest thing to happen?

Undoubtedly the miscarriage in early December, it’s still quite raw but I guess it will be –  I’m fine most of the time but occasionally I still feel sad.

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?

Attending Britmums Live! That might sound really silly, but, I didn’t think I’d be able to afford to go, and thanks to Huggies for having faith in me and sponsoring me to go, I went!

4. Who let you down?

Someone who should have known better, but I’ve learnt from this and moved on.

5. Who supported you?

My blogging friends have been amazing this year, it’s been a tough one with one thing and another and they have been fabulous, especially the GLAM girls x

6. Tell us one thing you learned

Hmm, this is a tough one, I’ve learnt a lot this year, about myself and others! Probably the best thing I’ve learnt though, has to be how to make a mean chocolate fondue!

7. Tell us one thing that made you laugh

Just one thing?? Arragh! That’s hard! I think probably the boys generally, especially when Boo tries to explain things to E like why the dog is not a cat.. (I love listening to them chatter!)

8. Tell us one thing that made you cry

Learning that a childhood friend had died, he was one of the worlds good guys, and made everyone around him smile.

9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud.

Boo started school and has taken it to a duck to water, he’s learnt to write all his letters! E has started to say please and thank you, he’s not quite 2 so I feel super proud!

10. Tell us one thing that made you proud of yourself.

Facing my fears.

11. Tell us one challenge you overcame

I’ve learnt to put my family first and say NO when I need to, although sometimes that is still hard especially if I see it upsets someone else.

12. Tell us three things you would like to change about your life in 2013.

1, I’d like to spend time on myself – just 10 minutes a day would be good!
2, I’d like to shout less
3, I’d like to smile more!

Country File has a LOT to answer for…

For our entry to the #pktmnyparents linky competition on BritMums, I asked Boo, what would you spend your pocket money on if you had it all saved up? He smiled sweetly and replied..

“This..”

For those of you who are wondering why Boo is asking for toys he appears to already have, I must explain, he doesn’t want the toys, he wants the real thing. He would buy a combine harvester and a tractor…as he wants to drive them through the fields..best get saving then..and I might need to up his pocket money..a lot! This is our entry for the #pktmnyparents linky over at Britmums.

Beauty Slim by Berlei!

I both love and loath Christmas parties, I love the excitement of dressing up and going out with my friends, but dread trying to slide into that dress I’ve not worn since last year, or discovering I’m ‘between sizes’ with the dress I’ve been lusting after for weeks. We’ve all been there, and having a ‘fat’ day can make a night out stressful – and you find yourself hiding your tummy behind your handbag or avoiding the camera altogether!
Beauty Slim by Berlei, are the kind of pants which Bridget Jones herself would be proud to own, providing that bit of support to give you a nice smooth appearance around your middle! I have to confess they are going to be a staple part of my Christmas party wardrobe this year, especially as I have fallen in love with a rather close fitting duchess satin dress, which is most unforgiving on my erm.. lumpy bits!
So, here they are:
They remind me slightly of old-fashioned underwear, and I can’t help but feel like I’m about to leap into an episode of Downton Abbey when I put them on! Unlike some other shape wear, they have retained a very feminine appearance, with the pretty trim, and lace up motif on the front. As they’re seam-free they work well even under tight black trousers – as they are invisible, and once they’re on they’re comfortable as the fabric is incredibly soft. The pants worked wonders at controlling my Mum- tum, and as my tummy is an area I’m really conscious about, it did give me more confidence to enjoy my first Christmas night out!
Huge thanks to Berlei for sending me some fabulous underwear to try out and write about! x
