Benefits of Buying and Holding Property

I know of a few people who buy houses, do them up and then sell them on. Mostly to get themselves further up the housing ladder, but some do it to make money too. As a student, myself and some friends rented a house from someone who had bought the property specifically to rent out – a buy to let property. His plan was to buy several properties in the student area, and rent them out to students. I don’t know whether he ever got more than our house, or whether he still has the houses, but certainly he was a man with a plan! I remember thinking I’d love to do something like that one day. Maybe I still will, I think there’s a lot I need to look into first though.
