The Night Before Christmas at The Haymarket, Basingstoke.

What better way to get into the festive spirit than a trip to see The Night Before Christmas at Basingstoke’s The Haymarket Theatre. Running from Thursday 1st December until Sunday 4th December 2016. As a parent of three children, Christmas is an exciting time of year, and I can’t wait to take my youngest to see this production, as it sounds truly magical!

The Night Before Christmas

“On the night before Christmas, as her family celebrate downstairs, Emily is in her bedroom, far too excited to even think about sleeping.  She stares out of the window, hugs her teddy and waits excitedly for the morning.
When her dad arrives to make sure she’s asleep, he agrees to read her a bedtime story and they begin to read The Night Before Christmas, but Emily gets distracted when she realises she hasn’t hung her stocking.  How will she get her presents with no stocking to fill? Dad tries to persuade her that she’ll get her presents anyway, but Emily insists that they go and hang her stocking right away!
Meanwhile, in the corner, a little mouse called Eddie can’t understand why only humans are allowed to get presents.  So he sets off in search of Father Christmas to find out for himself.
Along the way, he dodges the family cat, gets directions from a cowardly robot and is given some unexpected advice from the magical fairy on top of the tree.

Will Eddie get an answer?  Will Emily get her wish?  And what is that funny-shaped present sitting under the tree?”

The production is aimed at children aged 2 to 7 years old, and would be a wonderful introduction for young children to the theatre. The Haymarket, Basingstoke is a very family friendly theatre, there are booster seats available for children to sit on during performances, and they are always very welcoming to children at family productions. The production lasts 50 minutes, so take a drink and snack in with you – there’s a well stocked cafe bar at the theatre. The Night Before Christmas is presented by Big Wood Horse and Brighton Dome. There are performances on Thursday (10.30am) and Friday (10.30am and 1.30pm), with three performances on Saturday and Sunday (11am, 3pm and 4pm). There is a relaxed performance available on Saturday 3rd December at 4pm, read details about the relaxed performance here.
