Should I find out if baby is a boy or girl?
The pregnancy questions..
When are you due? And, Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl yet? Are the two most common questions I’m being asked at the moment. The 20 week scan gives an option where you may be able to find out if your baby is a boy or girl, but should you? Or more to the point, should we?
Of course sometimes there are reasons why you may want to know. It may be to check for hereditary conditions, or practical purposes like sharing a room with an older sibling. But those don’t apply to us, so do we need to find out?
Should we find out baby’s gender?
With my first pregnancy, I couldn’t wait to find out, I was delighted to know I was carrying a baby boy, and plan boy outfits! I then found out with the two subsequent pregnancies, as I couldn’t imagine not finding out! This time we have debated hard, we have two boys and a girl, so we would be happy with either a boy or a girl! So perhaps a suprise is our best option?
Will we find out?!
We are having a baby as we very much felt like our little family wasn’t quite complete. Whether we have a boy or a girl we will be happy. The pink or blue won’t apply, I never liked that anyway. But, mostly as this baby will be proudly wearing hand me downs from their older siblings! So this bump is neutral, we shan’t find out until it arrives, and then it’ll be a surprise. Of course we both have ideas of what it might be, having had babies before I’m looking for things I’ve craved and even shape of the bump. But, we won’t know until delivery day!
Did you find out whether you’re having a boy or girl? Did you think it helped you plan? Or did you love the excitement of a surprise delivery?
