Dinosaur Roar! App Review!
Dinosaur Roar! by Paul Stickland and Henrietta Stickland, Is one of my boys favourite books, Boo now even loves reading it to his younger brother, complete with voices and roaring! Dinosaur Roar! is celebrating 20 years since first being published, and Random House have brought out a great new 20th Anniversary of Dinosaur Roar! to celebrate!
There is also a great new Dinosaur Roar! App,which we have been lucky enough to review! The app is aimed at pre-school children aged 2-4, E is 3 and has been able to play happily with the app with little help, and much laughter. There is a dinosaur name maker, ideal for your little one to discover their dinosaur name! Part of the app is a full digital version of the story, which both boys have loved and it was very handy during our weekend away!
I was really impressed with the read-along function on the app, ideal for encouraging pre-schoolers to follow the words as the story is read, E loves hearing the children’s voices reading the story, and instantly discovered how to make a dinosaur ROAR!! It’s of course not a substitute for reading to your child, but is great for them to be able to listen to a favourite story while you are driving or busy trying to do something else which always seems to be when E is desperate to be read to! For older children, they can read it themselves and record their reading – or you can read it and so a familiar voice is reading the story! I was impressed with how well the record function works, and confess I’ve sat grimacing at the sound of my own voice – now to encourage Boo to record his voice instead!
The colouring part of the app proved hugely popular with E, who spent a long time colouring in different dinosaurs!
