Thomas and Friends, Christmas Journey
The Fat Controller reading a story at St Evelina Children’s Hospital. |
Last weekend we ventured to Hamleys in Regents Street, London, to say hello to the Fat Controller! The Fat Controller was visiting to spread the word about the epic journey Thomas and Friends are undertaking this Christmas to spread cheer to children in hospital across the UK and Ireland. Thomas the Tank engine was originally written by Reverend W. Awdry who created Thomas to entertain his sick son, and as such the idea of bringing a little festive cheer to children who are ill in hospital is very much in the spirit which Thomas was originally created.
The Fat controller visited Hamleys in London, to start his adventure and we were delighted to be invited for story telling, face painting and lots of fun colouring activities! Both boys were in awe of the amazing toy store, and the fabulous display of Thomas the Tank engine toys – I think they have a few ideas to add to their Christmas lists now!
The Fat controller will visit Hamleys Cardiff on 17th November, Glasgow on 24th November and finally Dublin on the 1st December, pop along to join in the fun and perhaps get a photo with the Fat controller? If you can’t pop along you can still help Thomas on his journey by helping to build a virtual track and get the chance to win Thomas prizes!
On our way home we popped into the Science Museum and visited one of Thomas’ friends, much to the boys delight!
Disclaimer: We were invited to attend the event and meet the Fat Controller, all thoughts are my own.
