Visiting London Zoo – Boo at the Zoo

Half-Term and that question instantly gets raised.. What to do with the kids for Half-term? Thankfully, Attraction Tix were on hand to help us! With a trip to London Zoo – Boo at The Zoo to check out the SPOOKY Halloween fun!

London Zoo

The highlight of our trip had to be Penguin Beach. It may not be Spooky but there’s something so endearing about penguins!

We loved walking through the butterfly house, the huge exotic butterflies really were impressive to see flutter around us. One of the most spooky, and strangely impressive areas of the zoo was Bugs. I am not a fan of creepy crawlies, but I spent a long time in here! There’s a dedicated Spider area, now I am quite nervous of spiders, and couldn’t venture into the zone where spiders are free roaming! I did however happily have a close look at the spiders and learnt a lot about them!

There’s plenty of things to see and do. We spent over 4 hours looking at the animals! There are also play areas, plenty of picnic tables and an extensive restaurant.

London Zoo is outside the congestion charging zone. The Zoo has a car park which is pricey but you can park all day. There’s also plenty of on the road parking around, though maximum stay is 4 hours and I can imagine it may be difficult to park at peak times. It is easy to access the Zoo via public transport too.

Halloween Events

As well as the spooky residents who live at the Zoo everyday, there are a range of spooky activities on. Most activities are included in the ticket price, though some had an extra charge e.g. Pumpkin Carving and Face Painting.

The children learnt a lot from the spooky extinction trail, it explained which animals have sadly become extinct. Having completed the quiz, the children were able to hand it in at the shop for a special prize before we left!

We found that the craft table was very busy, and I felt as though it needed a little more input from the helper. But everyone was happy with their spooky creations!

Pumpkin carving – what a great idea! It cost £3 for one or £5 for two. No mess at home for parents to clean up, and lots of very happy families could be seen carrying home their carved pumpkins!
