National Trust Christmas Event at Mottisfont #CountryKids

The weather was amazingly mild this weekend and with the boys over excited at the thought of Christmas on the way I wanted to get out and about with a festive visit to Mottisfont to see their Nutcracker event. We’re National Trust members and I have to say it’s been great value for us this year, we’ve seen lots of places and it’s encouraged us to go on days out even when it’s raining! There is a Nutcracker trail, and they suggest donations of £1 (on top of entry fee if you’re not members) the trail gets children to explore the grounds and find letters which spell out a festive phrase. Although we did do the trail, I have to admit the boys were more impressed with the decorations and lost interest in the trail half way round.

There is a fantastic display of puppets in the house, and a room laid out with some wooden toys which the children can play with, or they can choose to make a nutcracker or sugarplum fairy!

We had a lovely day out, and enjoyed exploring the grounds, I think my favourite part was the simple snowflake decorations hanging from the trees which stunning in the sunlight!

We ended our visit in our now traditional end to every day out, by finding fun jumping in the puddles!
