Each October half-term we usually venture on holiday. The weather in the UK is usually turning damp and cold, and grabbing some autumnal or winter sunshine usually helps drag me happily through the half term until Christmas!
Cyprus is one of my favourite places to visit for Winter sunshine holidays. October Half-term is fabulous in Cyprus as the crowds of people have gone, so you get time to explore quietly! Pafos is beautiful for family holidays or perhaps a romantic break. The weather is usually warm enough to wear your summer clothes, but maybe not quite bikini weather!
Pafos harbour is beautiful, and the restaurants and bars are welcoming all year around. Ideal for tasting some traditional Cypriot food and wine! Pafos old town needs to be explored too, keeping an eye out for coffee shops and pastries along the way!
There is lots to do in Cyprus. from seeing ancient Mosaics, to venturing into the Mountains! Did you know there’s even a ski resort in the mountains??
Planning your Cyprus Holiday..
Pafos has its own airport, so transfer times from the airport to accommodation is relatively quick. Something which is important to me if I’m travelling with the children! There’s a wide variety of accommodation available in Cyprus, from self-catering to 5* Luxury hotels. If you opt for self-catering, supermarkets are great! If you stay in a hotel, you’ll probably not want all-inclusive – unless you are on a tight budget! As there are some superb places to eat, whether you want traditional Cypriot food, Chinese food, or something completely different!
One of the places I would most like to return to visit is Malta. I last visited “out of season” and the crystal clear water with winter sun shining down on it made me really feel like I was on holiday! So, it is top of my list for a return visit! If you visit Malta, make time to visit Popeye Village, it is a stunning location with lots of family fun to be had! Take a boat trip to Gozo and indulge in all the beauty the landscapes have to offer.
Are you planning a Winter Sunshine holiday? Where do you plan to go? I’d love to hear!
